90% of Belgian marketers are not satisfied with current marketing approach

During the preparations for Conversion Day 2017 we were convinced that we had to do things different this year: less spekers on the main stage, but true (international) marketing all stars! Yet speakers alone are not enough, in fact there is a huge demand for answers on specific topics that marketers are struglling with. 

To think ahead we created a new concept the 'meet the expert' sessions, where 18 experts will share their knowledge and insights during a roundtable discussion. To give answer to the question who these experts should be and what topics they should cover, we decided to do a market research. We asked the Belgian digital marketer about his challenges and future plans in digital marketing. 

Three noteworthy conclusion from the survey: 

90% wants to improve the current marketing strategy

The most striking conclusion is that although 70 procent of the questioned marketers indicates that their digital marketing budget will raise, 90 procent isn't satisfied with the current marketing strategy (chart 1 and 2). 


Leadgeneration, ROI and usability are the biggest challenges

On the question about their challenges, 25% answer that they find it difficult to gain traffic and leads with their marketing efforts. 23% indicates that conversion optimalisation and usability are on top of the list when it comes to challenging topics. 21% finds it hard to prove ROI and results from their initiatives (chart 3). 


Next steps are video marketing, bots and decision making based on client behavior

Almost 30% of the questioned wants to become more strategic, 26% wants to get more insights from client behavior and almost 20% wants to explore growth hacking (chart 4). 


As for the future plans (chart 5), 31% will be using Youtube more in the future, and 20% video marketing in general. 17% indicates that they wish to experiment with messaging apps.

All the above show that marketers have a lot off questions and concerns and therefore they are looking for experts to help them make the right decisions. To tackle these challenges we have the meet the experts sessions. As part of the survey we asked on what fields they could use improvement.
